The things people ask most. If your question is not here, write to us — a person reads it.
The basics
What is SoulDay?
A mirror for your soul. Each day you name a state and a feeling, and your soul takes their shape — a colour, a form, a motion that changes as you do. Open SoulDay and you see a reflection: your soul as it is right now, and a few words in your own inner voice.
Then there are the people. You can join souls with a handful of people who truly matter to you — your soul-mates — and see how each other is doing, day to day. And when words are not enough, you can reach into their soul and touch it.
Reflect. Connect. Touch. A minute a day is the whole idea.
Is this therapy? Or a journal? Or a chatbot?
None of those. SoulDay is not therapy, counselling, medical care or a crisis service, and no clinician is involved.
It is not a chatbot, and that is on purpose. There is nothing to type — you choose one state and one feeling from fixed lists, and that is all SoulDay asks about how you feel. If you choose to, it can also take your rough location and the shape of your calendar, so your reflection knows something about the day you are having. There is no chat and no journal. You cannot talk to your soul or steer what it says. It is a mirror: glance, and be a little better each day.
If you are in danger or thinking about hurting yourself, please call or text 988, or call 911. SoulDay cannot see that and will not respond.
What do I actually do each day?
Check in. Pick the state you are in and the feeling underneath it. Your soul becomes them, and the reflection moves with you — a message and a short essay worth sitting with, or acting on, as your soul moves you toward the objective you chose.
Then look in on your soul-mates. See how they are doing, and if one of them is having a hard day, touch their soul.
That is all. A minute, most days. Nothing else is required, and you cannot fall behind.
What does it cost?
Nothing. SoulDay is free on iOS and Android — the reflection, soul-mates, touches, all of it.
A subscription called SoulDay+ is planned, with additional features for people who want more from their soul. It is not available yet: no charge is made and no payment details are collected until it launches, and we will tell you in the app first. Billing will run through Apple or Google, and the price will be shown before you buy.
Which languages does SoulDay speak?
Nine: English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. Your soul speaks to you in the language you choose, and you can change it in Settings.
A change takes effect from the next day on. What your soul has already said to you stays in the language it was said in.
If yours is not here, tell us at hello@soulday.ai — we would like to know which language to add next.
SoulDay is currently offered only in the United States, and you must be 18 or older to use it.
Your soul
Who writes the message and the essay?
Your soul does. It speaks in your own inner voice, and its work is to put into words what may already be in your heart — the thing you have not said yet, or not noticed.
To do that, SoulDay uses cutting-edge AI. Today it is Google’s Gemini. It writes only from what you have told your soul — your check-ins and the pattern they make, the messages you saved, your objective, and, if you allowed them, roughly where you are and the shape of your day. No person at SoulDay or at Google reads what it writes, and nothing about you is used to train AI models. The full list of what is sent is in our Privacy Policy, section 6.
It is still a machine’s best reading of you, and it can be wrong — mistaken about how you feel, or badly timed. Take it as a small act of noticing, not advice. Whether to act on anything it says is yours to decide.
What is a soul objective?
A direction you choose for your soul — be kind, be grateful, be confident, be healthy. One at a time, from a short list.
Your soul moves toward it a little each day. What it says to you leans that way, and now and then it may suggest one small thing to do. Change does not happen in a day; that is the point of holding one.
What happens if I miss a few days?
Your soul follows your check-ins, not your visits. A missed day costs you nothing.
SoulDay is at its best when it is daily, though. Every check-in gives your soul more to draw on — the pattern of your weeks, what you saved, what you acted on — so what it says to you becomes more yours with time.
Stop checking in for longer and your soul slowly dims, then sleeps. While it sleeps there is nothing new to reflect, so your soul falls quiet. Nothing is deleted: your timeline, your saved messages and your soul-mates are exactly where you left them. One check-in wakes it, and it returns to full strength over the following days. We will email you when it starts to dim, so it never happens in silence.
Soul-mates
What is a soul-mate?
Mate as in a close companion, not a romantic partner. A soul-mate is one of the handful of people who truly matter to you — a sister, an oldest friend, a parent, a spouse, a grown child. Up to five of them.
When you connect, you see each other’s souls as they are, day to day. Not to compare or comment. So that on a hard day someone who loves you can see it and reach out with a touch. You choose who to invite and whose invitation to accept, and you can disconnect at any time.
What can a soul-mate actually see?
Your soul. The colour and shape it has today, and its timeline — the states and feelings behind it, by day, week and month. That is the heart of it: they see how you are, and how you have been.
They also see the objective you are holding and how long you have held it, how you were feeling when you sent them a touch, and a short note about your bond that may name the states you were in when touches passed between you. What they never see is the writing — the message and essay are yours alone.
Once someone has seen how you feel, they have seen it. Disconnecting stops the sharing from that moment, but it cannot take back what they already know. The full list is in our Privacy Policy, section 7.
What is a touch?
A way of saying “I’m with you” without a single word. Open a soul-mate’s soul and touch it with your fingertips — a hug, a pat, a kiss, a cheer, a calm, a high five, a “thinking of you”, a “with you”, or a trace you draw yourself.
They feel it in their soul, on their side. Not a like, not a message, not a notification to answer. Just the knowledge that someone who cares was thinking of them — and, because a touch carries the state and feeling you were in when you sent it, a little of where it came from.
It is the most novel thing in SoulDay, and the most emotional. On a hard day, a touch from someone who loves you, felt in your own soul, can change the whole day.
Your data
What information do you collect?
Less than you might expect, and we have tried to list all of it plainly. You give us your name, your daily check-in (one state, one feeling), your soul objective, the messages you save, the traces you draw, the email of anyone you invite, and your notification and language settings.
We create your soul, a daily record, weekly and monthly summaries, and the message and essay your soul says to you. Automatically we get your sign-in identity from Google or Apple, a session record, your time zone and language, and a push token if you turn notifications on. Then two things that are yours to decide: your approximate location, and a few numbers about your calendar — each only if you grant it.
There is no journal, no voice, no photos, no camera. We may add other sources one day — health data from a watch, say. If we do, we will tell you in the app before anything is collected, and ask you first where the law requires it. The full list, with what each is for, is in our Privacy Policy, sections 3 and 5.
Do you sell my data, or show me ads?
No, and no. We do not sell your information and never have. We do not share it for advertising, there are no ads in SoulDay, and nothing about you is used to target advertising anywhere.
We use one product-analytics tool to see which screens people reach and where they get stuck — it never receives your check-ins, your feelings, or anything written for you, and it has no field that could carry them. No one is permitted to train AI models on your content.
We go to real lengths over this, because a record of how a person feels is about as private as information gets. Your soul is yours.
What about my location and my calendar?
Both are optional, and the app works without them.
If you allow location, we read your position when you open the app — never in the background — and round it to a rough area before anything is saved; the exact point is thrown away. If you allow calendar, we read only the shape of your days: how many events, how many minutes, when the first starts and the last ends. Never a title, a note, a place or a name — our systems have nowhere to put them.
Both exist so your reflection knows something about the day you are actually having. You can turn either off in your phone’s settings at any time. They are the only two today; if we add another one day, you will hear about it in the app before it starts.
How do I start over?
Open Settings and choose Delete my data. It clears your check-ins, messages, essays, timeline, places and invitations, ends your soul-mate connections, resets your objective, and starts your soul again from nothing. Your account stays open — you keep your sign-in and your settings, and simply begin again.
This is the one to reach for when you want a clean slate. It takes effect immediately.
How do I close my account?
If you want to leave altogether, Settings also has Delete account. It closes the account, deletes your name and email, and withdraws the permissions you gave us. It cannot be undone, so if you want a copy of anything first, ask before you delete.
If you can no longer sign in, email privacy@soulday.ai from the address on your account and we will do it for you — either a fresh start or a closed account, whichever you ask for. We remove your information from our live systems within 30 days and from backups within 90.
Is anything kept after I delete my account?
Almost nothing, and we would rather tell you what than say “nothing”.
Two records outlive the account, both stripped of any link to you first: how much text our AI processed (never the writing), and that a consent was given and when (never by whom). Touches a soul-mate had already opened stay with them, with your emotional state removed.
And there is one window we do not control: Google keeps what we sent its AI for up to 55 days to detect abuse of its service, so prompts about how you felt may exist there briefly after they are gone from us.
Can I get a copy of my data?
Yes, by asking. There is no download button — your writing is meant to be read where it was written.
Email privacy@soulday.ai from the address on your account, and we will verify it is you and reply within 45 days. If you are planning to delete your account and want a copy first, ask before you delete, because deletion cannot be undone.
